65 and Up, and the Disabled Tax Exemption Increase!

May 6, 2024 12:46 pm

The Board of Directors for Harris County Municipal Utility District 391 is pleased to announce an increase in resident homesteads to $65,000 of individuals who are sixty-five (65) years of age or older, or who are disabled. This crucial legal provision offers homeowners a reduction in property taxes for their primary residence, thereby providing financial relief. Eligible residents can receive an exemption on a portion of their property’s assessed value, resulting in savings on their annual tax bills.

It is important to note that no person may claim both exemptions, but a person qualifying for both may choose the exemption that he or she wishes to have applied to his or her property.
